Pakistan have been having a torrid time in the 20-20 World Cup so far after losing their first two games against India and Zimbabwe. The ‘Men in Green’ fought till the end in both matches but failed to grab crucial moments which eventually led to their loss. Amid the widespread backlash the team is facing, a video of a fan expressing his frustration with Babar Azam has been going viral all over the internet.

In the video, the fan can be heard criticising the Pakistan captain Babar Azam for his low strike rate. He further lashed out at him for his stylish posts on social media and ridiculed the Pakistan Cricket team for losing against Zimbabwe. He goes on to say that gully cricket teams can play better cricket than them and called them back after gifting points to all the teams they face.

Babar Azam had a tough time in the Asia Cup 2022 in August-September where he failed to cross the 30-run-mark in six innings. However, he made a great comeback in the home T20I series against England where he scored an unbeaten 110 and 87 in two matches of the series. He further scored two 50+ scores in the following tri-series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. The Pakistan captain couldn’t carry his good form into the World Cup and has scores of 0 and 4 to his name in the two matches.

Middle-order woes continues to hurt Pakistan

The over-reliance of the Pakistan team on the opening duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan was pretty clear heading into the world cup. The failure of the star opening duo in both matches meant that the pressure of scoring came onto the middle and lower order. No batter apart from Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood could turn out to be the perfect answer to Pakistan’s woes as they failed to chase down 131 against Zimbabwe.

Courtesy of their back-to-back losses, Pakistan are on the verge of getting knocked out of the 20-20 World Cup. Their fate lies in India’s hands as to keep Pakistan alive in the tournament India will have to win the rest of the matches.
