Australia beat India 2-1 in an ODI series played ahead of the 2023 Indian Premier League

Smith was in terrific form as he made 41 off 50 balls but somehow was not able to convert his knock into a big score. David Warner got off to a great start. The swashbuckling left-hander should have been back to the pavilion on 14 but Shreyas Iyer dropped a catch. Warner made a stroke-filled 52 off 53 balls with six fours and two sixes.

The Kangaroos have a great chance to get acclimatised to Indian conditions just ahead of the World Cup. India on the other hand would want to try and win the series to have some psychological advantage ahead of the big tournament. In the last few tours to India, Australia have won two bilateral series.

Just before the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place the Kangaroos beat the Men in Blue 2-1. For India, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were rested for the first two ODIs. For Australia, the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Smith are coming off injuries, Starc was left-out of the first ODI. Josh Inglis will keep wickets for Australia in place of Alex Carey who has been their regular.
