On December 30, Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant was involved in a serious car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on his way to his hometown of Roorkee. Pant reportedly managed to escape while his car was on fire by breaking the windscreen. The 25-year-old claimed to have dozed off while driving, which caused his car to collide with a road divider and catch fire.
While the entire cricketing world and fans prayed for Pant's quick recovery, his fellow Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan learned of Pant's injury from fans during a match. In fact, Kishan was taken aback when he learned of Pant's accident. Kishan was in the middle of a Ranji Trophy match for Jharkhand when the news broke, and he was posing for pictures with fans when he was informed of Pant's accident.
"Rishabh Pant ka accident ho gaya hai (Rishabh Pant has met with an accident)," a fan said. Shocked to hear what happened, Kishan reacted by saying: "Kya? (What)".
Here is Ishan Kishan's video
Ishan Kishan getting to know about Rishabh Pant's accident through fans. I do understand fan emotions but breaking a news like this in the middle of the game is not a good idea. Few fans realized this and told him to focus on the game. Good on Ishan to maintain his composure. pic.twitter.com/cEG0fd3jYa

A few fans then asked him not to think about what had happened and to concentrate on the game that he had come to play. While Pant's recovery is currently the most important topic, it has been confirmed that the cricketer is no longer in danger, but his return to the field is unlikely for the next 4-6 months.
Pant suffered several serious injuries, including burns, but was rescued in time by two truck drivers who were able to pull him out of the car. The cricketer was admitted to Dehradun's Max Hospital and could be airlifted to a hospital in Delhi.
In the meantime, a member of the medical team in charge of Pant's care told TOI on Sunday, "It is important that Rishabh gets sufficient time to rest, not just physically but mentally too. He is still in pain due to the injuries sustained in the accident. He has to speak to visitors, which drains his energy that should be preserved for faster recovery. People planning to visit him should avoid it for now and let him rest."
