Watch: Indian fans sing ‘Vande Mataram’ during 2nd T20I between India and South Africa, video goes viral

India lost to South Africa in the second T20I but the home crowd gave their all to support the Men in Blue.

Cricket has the power to unify people. Under the banner of a team, fans could transverse oceans to support them. The game of cricket brings out the biggest of emotions from its followers. A similar instance of the uniquely unifying power of sport was seen in the second game of T20I between India and South Africa in Cuttack.

A video from the game has gone viral for all the right reasons. In a powerful example of true nationalism, fans from all ethnicities, religions and states come together to sing "Vande Mataram". This rendition of the national song of India was sung and composed by AR Rahman and is often played in stadiums when the Indian team plays. More often than not? all the fans irrespective of their political ideologies join together to sing this song which creates a beautiful atmosphere. Thousands of fans singing in praise of the motherland must have also filled players with confidence.

 

This video is getting a lot of attention on social media with people calling it "Beautiful" and similar adjectives to define it. One user even said "Vande Mataram >>>>>> greater than any chant for Indians."

Talking of the game, India lost the second T20I as well by 4 wickets. Asked to bat first, the hosts got off to a poor start and lost their first wicket rather early as Ruturaj Gaikwad gave a simple catch on point to Keshav Maharaj off of a Kagiso Rabada's bowling. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan made a decent partnership but once Kishan was out at a score of 48-2, Indian batting collapsed. Dinesh Karthik with a 30 not out, somehow propelled India to 148-6.

As for the second innings, India's bowling got off to a good start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three quick wickets to make the Proteas scorecard read 29-3, a resolute Heinrich Klassen however with 81 off of 46, saw off the Indian challenge to an easy win at the end. Thus, the visitors currently lead the series by 2-0.
