India and Bangladesh crossed their swords against each other in the first Test of the two-match Test series on Saturday, 14th of December. Indian team batted first on day 1 after winning the toss. The visitors lost three wickets early on the score of 48 runs. But the quick came from Rishabh Pant (46 runs off 48 balls with six boundaries and two sixes) played a crucial role in stabling India’s innings. Following the fall of Pant, Pujara and Iyer stitched a partnership of 149 runs for the fifth wicket.
In the 84th over of the innings, Bangla pacer Ebadot Hossain managed to tackle Shreyas Iyer’s defense and managed to hit the stumps. But unfortunately, the bails didn’t dislodge off the stumps. Speaking of the entire action of day 1, The opening pair of Shubman Gill and KL Rahul added 41 runs for the first wicket. But just after the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket, India lost their three wickets only on the score of 48 runs in 19.3 overs. Then the young wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant scored 46 runs off 45 balls and stitched a partnership of 64 runs for the third wicket.
But Rishabh Pant fell prey to Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 32nd over of the innings and it was the fourth wicket of the Indian team on the first day of the series opener. It was also the time when the pair of Pujara and Iyer took the charge and added a brilliant partnership of 149 runs for the fourth wicket. Although, team India lost their fifth wicket in the form of Pujara (90 runs) as day 1 was nearing its end.
At the end of the day’s play, Axar Patel was accompanying Shreyas Iyer. Iyer ended up scoring an unbeaten 82 runs but Axar Patel ended up getting out on the last ball of the day off Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Eventually, India ended on the score of 278 runs for the loss of six wickets
