Guyana Amazon Warrior ended a decade-long wait. Imran Tahir and his side won the Caribbean Premier League title. The win came in front of a frenzied crowd at Guyana who had come to watch their local team play.

Trinbago Knight Riders are the most successful team in the history of the league. Kieron Pollard led side has won the title on 4 occasions. This was Guyana’s first ever title win ever since the league started.

Imran Tahir won the toss and chose to bowl first. For the home team, pace bowler Keemp Paul came into the playing XI. Trinbago also made a change to their playing team as Sunil Narine came in to replace Terrence Hinds.

Imran Tahir gets big wicket of Andre Russell

With the score reading 49/5 in the 7th over Andre Russell was the main player for Trinbago. Imran Tahir bowled the most pivotal ball of the final when he tossed one up to Russell.

The batter took the bait and tried to slog the bowler but could only get a thick edge. Dwaine Pretorius settled under the ball and took the catch as Tahir went on a celebratory run. Andre Russell was out for 0 with Trinbago in trouble at 49/6.

Trinbago were all out for just 94 runs after being put into bat first. Only three batters managed to reach double figures in what was a disastrous performance with the bat. Keacy Carty top scored with 38 off 45 deliveries with 2 fours and a six. Chadwick Walton with 10 and Mark Deyal with 16 were the double-digit scorers.

Dwaine Pretorius was the lead wicket-taker with figures of 4/26 from his four overs. Imran Tahir and Gudakesh Motie picked two wickets. Romario Shepherd and Ronsford Beaton picked a wicket each for Guyana.

Chasing 95 to win, Guyana saw opener Saim Ayub score 52 not out. The Pakistani left-hander has been in top form for his team this season. Ayub scored his runs off 41 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes. Keemo Paul was the only batter out for 11. Shai Hope was not out on 32 as Saim Ayub got the winning runs with a six in the 14th over.
