Bollywood fans might remember the iconic movie 'Lagaan' where the British bowler oversteps on the last ball of the game. It resulted in Amir Khan hitting the winning six and snatching the victory from defeat. Fast forward to 2022, a bowler by the name of Nathan Ellis overstepped on the last ball of the T20 Blast final. Defending five runs of the last ball, he managed to clean bowled Richard Gleeson.

The fans and the Hampshire players thought that they have won their third title in the history of the tournament. Even the commentators felt the same. However, thanks to modern-day umpiring, the third umpire found out that Ellis had overstepped. The official informed his on-field mate and the latter signalled the no-ball. In the midst of all this, the fireworks went up.

Lancashire got two extra runs which meant that they needed three runs to win the game. The Aussie bowled a slower one and was missed by Gleeson. The England international couldn't repeat what Aamir Khan did in the movie. He missed the ball and could only steal a bye. With this, the Yellow brigade won the game by one run.

Talking about the game, another England international, Matt Parkinson, who made his international debut last month, took a four-wicket haul for the Manchester-based team. For the Southampton-based side, Ben McDermott scored a valuable 62 off 36 balls. This innings helped the team reach a fighting total of 152/8.

In reply, the Red Brigade batters got starts but couldn't convert into big scores. Their star player, Tim David, was trapped lbw by James Fuller. This proved costly for the team in the end, who lost the game by one run. With the kind of form he was in since the Indian T20 League 2022, fans can wonder what he might have done differently on the last ball of the game.

With this win, the James Vince-led side has won their third title since 2010.
