WATCH: Andre Russell smashes a spectacular six out of the ground in a BBL match against Brisbane Heat

Star Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell is currently in action with the Melbourne Renegades during the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League 2022. Notably, Nic Maddinson-led Melbourne locked horns with Brisbane Heat on Wednesday, 21^st of December at GMBHA stadium in South Geelong of Victoria.

Coming back to Caribbean prodigy Andre Russell, he attracted the eyeballs with his spectacular and match-defining knock against Brisbane. Apart from his half-century, Russell’s six off Michael Neser on the last ball of the third over caught the eyeballs of the cricket fans as it went over the third tier onto the roof of the stadium over the mid-wicket area.

Andre Russell smashed this six off Brisbane’s most successful batter in the match Melbourne had lost four wickets off just 13 runs in 2.5 overs. Other than falling prey to Russell, Neser ended up the match being the most successful bowler for Brisbane as he scalped four wickets by conceding 32 runs in his quota of four overs.

But Russell’s impressive knock of 57 runs took his team across the line and won the match by four wickets with four balls to spare in the second innings.

Earlier in the match, Brisbane skipper Jimmy Peirson won the flip of the coin and decided to bat first against Maddinson’s men. Riding on the captaincy knock of 45 runs with six boundaries from Peirson helped Brisbane to reach a total of 137 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

While chasing the target, Melbourne was in big trouble after an early collapse of four wickets only on the score of 9 runs. But it was the time when senior players Aaron Finch and Andre Russel took the charge to stitch an important 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket to help their team reach the target.

Eventually, Russell won the ‘player of the match award for his outstanding performance with the bat.
