Watch: Ambati Rayudu survives as bails don't fall despite ball hitting the stumps

The 15th edition of the Indian T20 League 2022 has already seen a lot of action and the first game is yet to be completed. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Kolkata put a lot of pressure on Chennai early on. Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed in the first over itself.

Devon Conway was quick to join him as he too was dismissed in the fourth over. After which, Ambati Rayudu came to bat. However, the fans witnessed an absolutely unbelievable moment. So much so that it felt as if there was some sort of sorcery in the middle.

During the fifth ball of the fifth over, Rayudu got an inside edge, and the ball went on to hit the stumps. Yet, the bails didn't fall off. Not only were the players shocked, but even the commentators couldn't believe what they just saw.

The ball went through the stumps, without disrupting the bails. The bowler (Varun Chakravarthy) was in utter disbelief as well. It is to be noted that Rayudu went for the slog sweep, but the delivery turned and he missed it.

To make matters worse, the ball went past the boundary rope and thus, the batting team were awarded four runs. This moment shocked one and all. Fortunately for the Shreyas Iyer-led side, Rayudu didn't last too long as he perished in the eighth over.

A miscommunication between him and Ravindra Jadeja meant that the Andhra Pradesh batter was short of his crease. He ended up scoring 15 from 17 deliveries, and Chennai's mysteries continued. The yellow army were 57-4 in the first 10 overs of the first innings. It will be exciting to see how many more runs Chennai end up scoring. However, the Jadeja-led side would certainly hope for a late blemish, so that they at least score a competitive score.
