Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has selected his Indian Test squad for the England tour, starting on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. It’s important to note that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirements from Tests and will not be a part of this tour.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the final Indian Test squad on May 24. While there are talks of Shubman Gill emerging as the new Test captain, Jaffer went ahead with Jasprit Bumrah as the skipper, with Gill being his deputy.
It’s worth noting that the upcoming England tour will be the start of the new WTC cycle for Team India. Interestingly, Jaffer decided not to include Sai Sudharsan and Nitish Kumar Reddy in his squad.
While Sudharsan impressed everyone with his heroics in the domestic circuit and for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025 season, emerging among the leading run-scorers of the edition, Nitish Reddy had an exceptional debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Jaffer went ahead with India A captain Abhimanyu Easwaran as the back-up opener instead of Sudharsan. Moreover, he picked up KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal as well. Talking about other batters, he has selected Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, and Karun Nair.
On the other hand, he has also picked all-rounders like Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, and Axar Patel. The pace battery includes Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Akash Deep.
