Meanwhile, the Punjab franchise have made a complete overhaul of its backroom staff after enduring a poor outing in the league last season. The franchise have roped in Trevor Bayliss as their new batting coach and Charl Langelvedt as their new bowling coach.
In addition to that, former Australian batter, Brad Haddin has also been added to the squad as the assistant coach. Mayank Agarwal is no longer the captain of Punjab as he has been released from the squad ahead of a new season. Veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the new captain of the team.
The franchise bought his services for a whopping amount of INR 8.25 crores at the Indian T20 League 2022 auction. He had a pretty good outing with the bat last season. In 14 matches, Dhawan amassed 460 runs at an average and strike rate of 38 and 122 respectively.
Apart from Mayank Agarwal, the franchise has also released the likes of Odean Smith, Prerak Mankad, Writtick Chatterjee, Ishan Porel, Vaibhav Arora, Benny Howell and Sandeep Sharma.
