If missing the England series was not enough, Washington Sundar is likely to miss the second leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. Sundar fractured his finger after being hit by a lethal delivery of Mohammed Siraj in the warm-up game against India. Earlier, it was reported the injury will take around five weeks to heal but as per the latest reports, Sundar may take longer to recover and might have to miss the second leg of IPL as well.

It is learnt the all-rounder will go under the knife after the T20 World Cup to mend his finger. He will soon return to Chennai and will report to the National Cricket Academy where he would undergo rehabilitation.

Apart from Sundar, India have few other injury concerns in the form of Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan. Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to board the flight to the UK as replacements for England Tests.

If Washington Sundar does miss out on IPL, it will be a massive blow to the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the off-spinner is an integral part of the team. RCB enjoyed a decent run in the first leg with five wins in seven games and are placed third in the points table. Sundar too had an impressive first leg and accounted for three wickets at a brilliant economy of 7.37. He was even promoted to open the batting in the absence of Devdutt Padikkal against Mumbai Indians.
