The BCCI has released the list of 292 players that’ll go under the hammer in the IPL auction slated to take place on February 18th in Chennai. Earlier, a total of 1114 cricketer had registered for the IPL but only 292 were shortlisted to try their luck in the auction. While some of the news that created a buzz was the omission of S Sreesanth from the list, one noticeable thing that attracted a lot of eyeballs in the IPL governing council’s press conference was that Vivo remained the title sponsor for the IPL 2021. Earlier, there were reports of Vivo pulling out of the sponsorship two years before the end of their contract. However, now it’s proved that all these reports were mere rumours.

A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from the Associate nations will be available for selection in the IPL auction. All the members that’ll be present at the auction will undergo a covid-19 test a day before the auction. Also, only limited members will be allowed to be present in the auction. The IPL governing council has listed two Indians i.e Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav, and eight foreign players in the 2 crore slab. Among the foreign players are the likes of Glen Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood.
