“The team I support tend to lose” - Virender Sehwag reveals his IPL 2025 title winner

Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag has revealed his choice of title winner in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Notably, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on the Punjab Kings in the grand finale of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.

Interestingly, this would be RCB’s fourth IPL final after earlier advancing to the final in 2009, 2011 and 2016. On the other hand, PBKS made it to their second IPL final after initially qualifying in IPL 2014 against KKR, which they lost eventually.

"I think RCB will win. I have gone back to my old form because I have seen the team I support tend to lose, be it GT in the match against MI or Punjab Kings in the Qualifier 1 against RCB. Later, I supported MI vs PBKS in qualifier 2; they lost their matches," Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

Host Gaurav Kapoor then asked: "I asked who do you think will. Now, I am asking you, who are you supporting?"

Sehwag once again said, "RCB". 

"This is also the case with the Indian team. When I openly supported them, they went on to lose that match," Sehwag added.

If RCB goes on to win the title after defeating PBKS on Tuesday night, that would be their first ever IPL title in the 18 years of the league. Interestingly, Virat Kohli has been part of the franchise since the first day of the league. Captain Rajat Patidar has opened up on Kohli’s presence in the team.

“Of course. I think he has given a lot of years to RCB and the international side also. We will try to do our best in the game,” Patidar said in the pre-match press conference.

“We are not looking on the stage that we are in the finals. We will try to play our best cricket. We are not playing here for the stage. I always like to keep things simple,” he added.

“Wherever we go, we feel that the crowd is a home ground for us and (given ) the way they are showing support and love from the (last many) years,” he concluded.
