Kohli, who is expected to turn 37 years old in November this year, is the fitness cricketer among current cricketers despite retiring from the longest and shortest formats of the game in international cricket.

"Hats off to Virat Kohli for starting the trend of fitness in world cricket. He brought the fitness culture to Indian cricket. He's the fittest cricketer of this era. Now, because of Virat Kohli, every young cricketer wants to be fit," Sehwag said on The Life Savers Show with Neha Bedi.

While Kohli announced his T20I retirement after India lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 title in June last year, he bid adieu to the longest format of the game ahead of the much-awaited Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England in the new World Test Championship cycle.

According to reports surrounding the internet, Kohli is expected to play the upcoming Australian tour in the three-match ODI series Down Under. The reports also suggest that the three-match series might be his last international series as he is likely to retire from international cricket.

India's next ODI series is a three-match series against Australia, starting October 19. The first match will be played in Perth, with Adelaide and Sydney hosting the second and third matches on October 23 and 25, respectively.

While many reports suggest that Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to play the ICC ODI World Cup in 2027, a few more reports indicate that the veteran duo should compete in the premier domestic tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy to stay in contention for the national team selection.
