Virat Kohli made a comeback to the Indian team after skipping the preceding T20I series and the first Test against New Zealand. However, he endured a poor outing and was dismissed for a four-ball duck. Kohli was given LBW off the bowling of Ajaz Patel.
The batter decided to review as he thought the ball had hit the bat first. Replays showed that the ball was pretty close to the bat. However, the third umpire wasn't sure and stuck with the on-field call as there was no clear evidence to overturn the decision. Kohli was furious with the decision and left the ground fuming.
Meanwhile, Twitteratis were also not impressed by the decision and felt that Kohli had hit the ball.

Clearly see there was deviation. Ball hit bat first. Virat Kohli immediately take review. Third umpire doing such mistake. Nothing is going good for Virat Kohli. #IndvsNZtest #ViratKohli pic.twitter.com/P3Ugpa3rY3

Inconclusive evidence shouldn’t mask the quality of the decision…or the lack of it. #IndvNZ

Earlier, Kohli won the toss and opted to bat. Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal got India off to a good start and added 80 runs for the first wicket before Gill departed for 44. Pujara and Kohli then were dismissed in the same over. Pujara's failure is a big concern for India. The batter has been going through a pretty lean patch.
Meanwhile, India made three changes to their team and added Jayant Yadav and Mohammed Siraj in place of Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma, who are out due to injuries. Kohli also came back in place of Rahane, who is struggling with a hamstring injury.
