Kohli took to his official Instagram handle to post a story, thanking Pujara for making his job easier at No. 4. Moreover, he also congratulated him on a remarkable career. He wished him the best for his future.

"Thank you for making my job easier at 4 pujji. You've had an amazing career. Congratulations and wish you the best for what's ahead. God bless @cheteshwarpujara," Kohli posted on his Instagram story.

Pujara, who scored 7,195 runs from 103 Tests at an average of 43.60, registering 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries, retired from all forms of Indian cricket after having last played for India in the WTC Final in June 2023 against Australia.

It’s worth noting that Pujara played a pivotal role in India’s historic Test series win against Australia Down Under in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018-19 series. Pujara accumulated 521 runs in seven innings as India went on to win that series by 2-1.

“As a little boy from the small town of Rajkot, along with my parents, I set out to aim for the stars and dreamt to be a part of the Indian cricket team. Little did I know then that this game would give me so much - invaluable opportunities, experiences, purpose, love, and above all, a chance to represent my state and this great nation,” Pujara wrote on his Instagram handle while announcing his retirement.

“Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the anthem, and trying my best each time I stepped on the field - it's impossible to put into words what it truly meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket,” he added.
