Indian talismanic No.3 batter Virat Kohli has surged two spots to the second spot in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings. Interestingly, he is now only eight points behind the veteran Indian batter Rohit Sharma, who holds the No.1 spot.

Notably, this move in the rankings came after Kohli’s exceptional performances in the just-concluded South Africa ODI series, in which he scored 135, 102, and an unbeaten 65-run knock to win the player of the series award and propel India to a 2-1 series win.
On the other hand, South African batters Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock moved up to 25th and 13th ranks respectively, while their skipper Temba Bavuma advanced three spots to the 37th rank.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s 4/41 in the series-deciding third ODI helped him advance to the third spot, surging three spots.
Speaking about the ICC Test rankings, Joe Root’s first century in Australia helped him to strengthen his pole position in the batting rankings with 781 rating points. However, his teammate Harry Brook slipped two spots to the fourth rank - now behind Kane Williamson in second place (827 points) and Steve Smith (823 points) in third place.
On the other hand, in Test bowling and all-rounders rankings, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc’s impressive pink ball heroics in Brisbane helped him to propel three spots to a career-best third spot and one slot up to the fifth rank in the all-rounders’ rankings.
In the ICC T20I Player Rankings, Dewald Brevis advanced into the top 10 among the batters, moving three slots up to eighth spot after his 22-run knock. Meanwhile, the Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya progressed three places to fourth in the all-rounders’ list with Axar Patel moving to ninth (from 10th) on the same list and 13th (from 15th) among the bowlers.
