After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Hyderabad's bowlers leaked 24 runs in the first two overs. Just when the Gujarat openers got to a good platform, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Shubman Gill, who has been in superb form of late. The Hardik Pandya-led side scored 51 runs in the first six overs.

While they were scoring runs at a quick rate, they were losing wickets at regular intervals as well. Matthew Wade's poor form continued as he had to depart after scoring 19. Gujarat's skipper took the onus on himself as he played the role of an anchor.

He stood tall and scored a superb half-century from 42 balls. His knock included four fours and two sixes. On the other hand, Abhinav Manohar rode his luck and played a handy cameo. After being dropped thrice, he scored a 21-ball 35. This enabled them to 162-7 in the first innings.

In reply, Hyderabad's openers didn't take too many risks and decided to take a safer route. Williamson in particular took his time to settle. Abhishek Sharma had to return to the pavilion for a 32-ball 42. However, Rahul Tripathi was retired hurt for 17.

While playing against his former team, Rashid Khan was right on the money as he only gave 28 runs in his full quota of four overs. Williamson was adamant about winning the game and got to his half-century. However, he perished in the 16th over of the second innings. Just when the match seemed to be drifting away from Hyderabad, Nicholas Pooran finally showed why people rate him so highly, and finished the game in style. He went on to score an unbeaten 34 off just 18 balls. Several fans took to Twitter to express their opinion about the game.
