All eyes were on Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill when they came out to bat for team India in Ahmedabad against Australia. It was day three of the ongoing Test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Both these players were unbeaten by the end of day two as team India scored 36 runs for no wickets.
Speaking of the match, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. The pitches have been a trending topic throughout this series. All three previous games got finished within three days. So, fans were not happy, especially when the Men in Blue suffered a nine-wicket loss in Indore in the third Test.
Rohit Sharma scored just 35 runs in the first innings of the Ahmedabad Test against the Aussies
So, fans were eager to see what kind of pitch will these players get in Ahmedabad. But, since day one, it turned out to be a flat one as batters were finding it very easy to handle both pacers and spinners. While batting first, the Aussies managed to score 480 runs in 167.2 overs. Usman Khawaja scored 180 runs off 422 balls while Cameron Green notched up his maiden Test ton also. He scored 114 runs off 170 balls. Indian bowlers toiled hard but Ravichandran Ashwin was the star of the show. He picked up six wickets for 91 runs in 47.2 overs.
However, fans were not happy with the performance of the bowlers as they criticized Rohit heavily for his captaincy. So, when the home side came out for the chase, fans were expecting a run fest from both the openers. But, on day three, after playing some delightful shots, skipper Rohit Sharma failed to score big. He got out on just 35 runs off 58 balls, including three fours and one six. Fans were not happy to see such a failure from the star batter as he looked dodgy after kicking off the series with a brilliant century in Nagpur.
