Team India are currently busy preparing for the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. After winning the first match comfortably, the Men in Blue will look to continue their form in Delhi also. However, India have been at the top of the rankings in the shortest format of the game for a while now.

In 2022, they defeated West Indies 3-0 at home and became the number one-ranked team in T20Is. However, they failed to win the 20-20 World Cup despite being so much dominant in the T20Is. Meanwhile, India have performed well in the recent ODI series in 2023. In 2022, the Men in Blue lost the ODI series in Bangladesh in December.

Sheer dominance from team India across all formats

So, fans were not happy with such a form from the team in the 50-over format. Then, they started 2023 with a top-form as India defeated both Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the ODI series at home. Rohit Sharma’s men became the number one side in ODI after whitewashing New Zealand in three-match series in January. Before that, they also whitewashed the Lankans in the three-match ODI series at home. So, fans were in an ecstatic mood after seeing the team at the top of the rankings in the 50-over format, especially in the ODI World Cup year. Now, before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India had a chance to become number one in the longest format of the game.

In the series opener in Nagpur, Rohit Sharma and his men managed a thumping victory over the Aussies. They won the match by an inning and 132 runs. Now, ahead of the second Test, Indian fans become happy as team India become the new number one-ranked team in Test after the newly updated rankings. Seeing such an achievement from the Men in Blue, fans went crazy and acknowledged the effort from Rohit Sharma and his men.
