On 21 April 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) took on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL. DC were looking to open their account this year as they lost all of their first five matches. However, they somehow managed to hold their nerves and won the game by four wickets in front of the home crowd.
Ishant Sharma won the Player of the Match award for his top bowling performance. But, from the match, an image went viral where KKR’s Andre Russell was seen shadow practicing in a different direction at the non-striker end. It seemed that he had no interest in what is going to happen with the upcoming delivery. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media.

Andre Russell and Jason Roy only scored some runs for KKR against DC
The incident took place during the 15th over of KKR’s innings. Kuldeep Yadav came up to bowl that over for DC. On the fourth and fifth delivery of that over, Yadav took the wicket of Jason Roy and Anukul Roy respectively. So, Umesh Yadav came out to bat to face the last delivery. Andre Russell was at the non-striker end and he was shadow practicing in a different direction. He was not even seeing Kuldeep bowling that delivery to Umeh.
Speaking of the match, KKR batted first and got bundled out for 128 runs in 20 overs. For DC, Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each. Andre Russell scored 38* runs off 31 balls and he also hit three sixes in the last over to reach the 128-run mark. In reply, DC chased down the target with 10 balls and four wickets to spare. Thus, DC registered their first win of the season. While it was the third consecutive loss for KKR in the ongoing tournament in six games so far.
