‘Upar ka SARA kapda kaha gaya?’ - Fans react to candid image shared by Shubman Gill ahead of RR clash in IPL 2023

Shubman Gill is currently busy playing in IPL for Gujarat Titans (GT). On 5 May 2023, GT will play against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. However, in the last match against Delhi Capitals, Gill failed miserably, He scored just six runs off seven ball as Anrich Nortje took his wicket.

However, Gill is currently in the sixth position in the race for the Orange Cap this year. In nine matches, he has scored 339 runs, at an average of 37.66. The GT opener has scored three fifties so far in the tournament. Now, ahead of the RR clash, Shubman Gill shared a candid image on his official Twitter account.

He shared the image with an emoji. However, after the DC loss, during the post-match press conference, Gill claimed that they should have chased down the target as the wicket was not so bad to bat. He said: “The wicket wasn’t so bad. We bowled really well. We couldn’t stitch partnerships in the top order, which created pressure on lower order. The wicket was tough to bat, but with the kind of batting we have, chasing 131 shouldn’t have been a problem.” Gill further heaped praises for DC spinners, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

He added: “DC spinners bowled well and it was difficult to hit boundaries.” However, GT skipper Hardik Pandya remained not out on 59* runs off 53 balls during that chase. But, he failed to win the game. So, Gill was seen backing his captain despite the loss. “As a player and a batter, we are all bound to have one off day. It was just one of those off days where he backed himself, which every batter should. He backed himself to hit those runs, but DC bowlers bowled some good yorkers in the end,” Gill concluded.
