The Lucknow franchise kicked off their Indian T20 League 2023 season on 1 April at the Ekanad cricket stadium. They locked horns with Delhi and it was the first when KL Rahul and his men were playing in front of their home crowds. Last year was the first time when Lucknow played in the tournament.
In that season, they finished third on the table before getting knocked out in the eliminator against the Bangalore franchise. On the other hand, Delhi finished in the fifth position. However, this season, they missed the services of Rishabh Pant. Speaking of the match, David Warner won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Delhi failed to chase down 194 runs against Lucknow in the Indian T20 League 2023
For Lucknow, KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers came out to open the innings, but, Rahul failed cheaply as he got out for just eight runs off 12 balls. Mayers showed some power-hitting skills as he scored 73 runs off 38 balls, including two fours and seven sixes. After that, other batters came up with some little contributions before Nicholas Pooran hit 36 runs off 21 balls, including two fours and three sixes. At the death over, Ayush Badoni scored quickfire 18 runs off seven balls, including one four and two sixes. Finally, they scored 193 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For Delhi, Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya took two wickets each while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
In reply, the skipper David Warner and Prithvi Shaw came out as openers for Delhi. Both of them gave a quick start but Shaw departed after scoring 12 runs off nine balls. Then, Mitchell Marsh looked clueless against a vicious delivery from Mark Wood. The England pacer took two wickets in his first over with his sheer pace. Then, Rossouw scored only 30 runs off 20 balls. Warner scored a fifty as he managed only 56 runs off 48 balls, including seven fours. Finally, they managed only 143 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Thus, they lost the match by 50 runs. Mark Wood was the star of the show as he picked up five wickets for 14 runs in four overs.

Pace is pace yar🔥.
You can put opposition in difficulty with your medium seam and swing bowling but to completely bamboozled the opposition you need real pace.#markwood#IPLonJioCinema #IPL2023 #LSGvsDC pic.twitter.com/9Pl96odA7o— Abdullah Iftikhar (@Babaryarmy) April 1, 2023

The problem with DC is that, they have Ricky Ponting and Saurav Ganguly as Decision Makers pic.twitter.com/G6wZqFYwtf— Chandraprakash (@iamCPkapla) April 1, 2023
