India is all set to field two different teams at the same time as a limited-overs specialist squad will be travelling to Sri Lanka for three One Day Internationals followed by as many T20 Internationals, starting from July 13. Since most of the first-choice players are in the UK for the Test fixtures, the team travelling to Sri Lanka is filled with youngsters and inexperienced players.

There is a change in the team management too as Rahul Dravid will be travelling to Sri Lanka. With Dravid as a coach, it is speculated that almost all the debutants or young players will get a chance to feature in one or two games. However, the former Indian skipper denied such possibility saying that it is unrealistic for all the players to get a game or two.

"I think it's probably going to be unrealistic to expect us in a short tour like this with three games, or three one-dayers to give everyone an opportunity...and the selectors will be there as well," Dravid declared in the pre-departure press conference.

"There are a lot of people in this squad who are pushing for places or looking to cement their places in the World Cup coming up, but I think the key goal of everyone in the squad and in the team...is to try and win the series," the former India captain added.

Further, the head coach added that the prime objective for the Sri Lanka series is to fill one or two spots present in the main Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. This is the only T20I series that India will be playing before the T20 World Cup. Thus, selectors will be travelling with the main squad to look at the performances delivered by the players and pick some cricketers for the upcoming ICC event.

"The primary objective is to try and win the series and hopefully people get the opportunity to put in some really good performances. These are the only three games before the World Cup. I am sure that you know the selectors and management would have a pretty fair idea by now as to what is the kind of squad that they are looking for," Rahul Dravid concluded.
