The name of the Australian T20 League is "Big Bash" for a reason. In the 56th match of the ongoing Big Bash League 2021-22, Glenn Maxwell was at his absolute best, as he went on to score the highest score in the history of the league.

After being asked to bat first by the Hobart Hurricanes, the Melbourne Stars got to an absolute flyer, as their openers got them to 97 runs in seven overs. However, what followed after that was absolute carnage. The Stars' captain Glenn Maxwell joined hands with Marcus Stoinis to deposit almost every ball out of the park. The Stars skipper played a knock of 154 runs off just 64 balls. This included 22 boundaries and four sixes. In the meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis also scored 75 in just the 31 deliveries. His knock comprised four boundaries and six sixes.

Thus, the two Aussie all-rounders put together a partnership of 132 runs for the third wicket. In the process, the Men in Green went on to score 273/2 in their allocated 20 overs. This is the highest score by any team in the BBL history

Moreover, this was Maxwell's 100th game in the Australia T20 league, and he made it worth remembering. As the Hurricanes had to chase a mammoth total, it was never going to be easy for them. The Wade-led side kept losing wickets at crucial intervals and thus, were never really in the chase.

Barring their keeper-batter Ben McDermott (55) and D Arcy Short (41), none of their batters really stood up. Thus, they ended up scoring 167, and lost the game by 106 runs. Maxwell won the Player of the Match award for his record-breaking and unbeaten 154. However, despite his monumental efforts, the Stars can't make it to the playoffs.

Here how Twitter reacted.
