Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL on 6 May 2023. The match took place at Chepauk, Chennai. CSK were winless in their last three matches. While MI came to this clash after two big wins in their last two games. So, CSK were looking to get back to winning ways in front of the home crowd.

Speaking of the match, MS Dhoni won the toss and asked MI to bat first. But, surprisingly, Ishan Kishan came out to open the innings along with Cameron Green instead of Rohit Sharma. However, Green only scored six runs, and then, at number three, skipper Rohit came out to bat. But, that move did not work in favour of him.

CSK defeated MI by six wickets in Chennai

His dismal form with the bat continued as Rohit managed a three-ball duck. Thus, the MI skipper has now two back-to-back ducks. He even now has scored the most number of ducks (16) in the history of this tournament. After that, Nehal Wadhera scored fighting 64 runs off 51 balls, including eight fours and one six. Along with him, Suryakumar Yadav scored 26 runs and Tristan Stubbs scored 20 runs. Thus, they managed only 139 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. For CSK, Matheesha Pathirana took three wickets for 15 runs in four overs.

Apart from him, Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande grabbed two wickets each while Ravindra Jadeja grabbed one wicket. For the chase, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave a solid start to CSK. They put up a partnership of 46 runs for the first wicket in 4.1 overs. Gaikwad scored 30 runs off 16 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Devon Conway scored 44 runs off 42 balls. Along with them, Shivam Dube scored 26* runs off 18 balls. Thus, CSK chased down the target in 17.4 overs and won the game by six wickets. They even did a double over MI this season with this win.
