Team India are going to play a two-match Test series in West Indies from 12 July 2023. The squad has already been announced. Young players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been given a spot in the squad. But, again, players like Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sarfaraz Khan failed to grab a spot.
Easwaran has been a part of Team India in some recent Test series as a backup opener. In 87 First Class matches, he has scored 6557 runs, at an average of 47.9. Even, in the last 10 matches, he has smashed five centuries. Now, after being neglected by the selectors once again, the batter broke the silence in an exclusive interview with India Today.
“I know that the opportunity would come soon and I want to be best prepared for that.’ - Abhimanyu Easwaran
He said: “I mean it is a little disappointing, to be honest but again, it is about getting my focus back to where I wanted to be and my game. I want to spend my energy on working my skill whenever that opportunity comes. I know that the opportunity would come soon and I want to be best prepared for that. So my focus is on trying to improve as a cricketer and be ready when the opportunity comes.”
Regarding his family members, he added: “They were also disappointed. They expect more than me. As a cricketer, I know how to be in the present but they always look forward to whenever a team is announced. So, it was a little disappointing for them, but again they know that for me right now, the Duleep Trophy is important. There is disappointment but we cannot do much about it, that is how life is. I am trying to get my focus back on Duleep Trophy and that I think is the most important thing for me right now. This snub has not broken my spirit at all, I am not going to give up, that's for sure.” Easwaran is currently busy playing in the ongoing Duleep Trophy as he is the skipper for East Zone.
Here is how fans have reacted:

Feel sad for him. The selection and PR of certain player hasn't helped. As things stand, the reality is that he won't get an international test debut cuz of the bias in Indian cricket
