Andre Russell, an all-around Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player, had yet another disappointing batting performance on April 26 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

The West Indian batter entered the fray when skipper Nitish Rana's wicket fell in the 18th over and was promptly removed by Mohammed Siraj with a spectacular yorker for only one run off of two deliveries. Russell's failure didn't stop KKR from posting a massive total of 200-5 in their 20 overs, thanks to the outstanding performances of opener Jason Roy (56 off 29) and skipper Nitish Rana (48 off 21).

Andre Russell has been playing terrible cricket this year, averaging just 21.40 runs per game with a strike rate of 140.79, a sharp drop from his career strike rate of 175.57. The lower-order finisher hasn't played a meaningful knock yet this year; his highest total is just 38, and he's only scored one run in two innings versus RCB.

Due to fitness problems, Russell has only bowled five overs in seven games thus far and has allowed runs at a dismal economy rate of 13.16 runs per over. Fans expressed their displeasure on Twitter about Russell's performances and KKR's hesitation to bench the Jamaican all-rounder.

'Where is Andre Russell currently? Have you seen him anywhere?' โ€“ Aakash Chopra

Five of their first seven games have ended in defeat for the Kolkata Knight Riders, who have endured a disappointing season. They had impressive victories in two of their first three games of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT), but since then, they have lost four straight matches and are currently ranked eighth in the standings.

The performance of West Indian superstars Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in the current IPL season has alarmed former Indian opener Aakash Chopra. The pair has recently been off of form with both ball and bat, which has caused KKR to linger in the bottom third of the points standings.

Ahead of the KKR-RCB game, Chopra commented on his YouTube channel, "Andre Russell has contributed when these two teams have played matches historically. He has picked up a lot of wickets; he has also scored a lot of runs. He has given those match-winning performances, but where is Andre Russell currently? Have you seen him anywhere?"

Chopra continued, "Both West Indians (Sunil Narine and Russell) were not there in the last match. They are huge names, but the performances have been absolutely pale. Will they turn up is the question."
