Rajasthan Royals (RR) were given a target of 189 runs from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League 2023 on Sunday, April 23. However, RCB wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik once again failed to create an impression with the bat. Karthik, once again, let his supporters down when he was removed after only scoring 16 runs off 13 balls.

Karthik, who had a brilliant last year while representing RCB, became one of the IPL 2022's top finishers after amassing 330 runs in 16 games with a strike rate of 183.33. Based on his incredible IPL 2022 achievements, he unexpectedly joined India's T20I squad and was even named to the team for the 20-20 World Cup in 2022. But he didn't make any impression with his performance, and he was ultimately cut from the semi-final against England. However, it'd be interesting to see if he makes a comeback from here or not in the ongoing season.

They have got DK who comes in for the last eight balls: Michael Vaughan

Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan slammed RCB’s team management for a poor strategy during the auction and said that they should have not let go of Yuzvendra Chahal and also worked on their middle order. He even said that Karthik has a contract of playing the last 8 balls of the match only.

“When Yuzvendra Chahal went to Rajasthan, they didn’t get their auction planning right. Clearly, they are top-heavy, they’ve got these three outstanding players at the top. Then they have got DK who comes in for the last eight balls, that’s his contract,” said Vaughan.

“They would have been better off keeping Yuzi Chahal, saving the money they spent on Hasaranga and buying a number 5 or number 6, a striker. The hardest place to bat in T20 cricket is 5, 6, and 7. There are a lot of players in world cricket that can bat at 1, 2, and 3 in T20s but not many successful ones at 5,6 and 7,” he added.
