Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh came to KL Rahul's defence. The star India batter has been facing a lot of hate of late for his poor run of form in the red-ball game. He has been unable to get past the 30-run mark in his last 10 Test innings. He has scored 20, 17 and 1 in the three innings he has featured in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series.

"Can we leave @klrahul alone, guys? He hasn't done any crime. He is still a top player. He will come back strong. We all go thru such patches in international cricket. He is not the first one and last one. So please respect the fact that he is our own player and have faith," tweeted Singh.

Shubman Gill will be picked for the next match over KL Rahul – Harbhajan Singh

The recent comments by Harbhajan Singh are shocking because he was backing India's young batting sensation Shubman Gill to be picked up for the upcoming tests of the BGT. He was quite harsh to KL Rahul blatantly stating that the youngster will be picked over the recently married batter. As such, fans are specifically mentioning his contradicting statements.

"Yes, because he is longer the vice-captain now. The team was just announced now, and I feel the reason why he hasn't been named the vice-captain is because Shubman Gill will be picked for the next match over KL Rahul," Harbhajan earlier stated.

"Gill has been in terrific form of late, in ODIs and T20Is. He became the superhero, and I feel he will definitely get the chance. Also, for Rahul, his dismissal today clearly shows that he is going through a rough time. He has a lot of quality, and his a big player, but his numbers could have been a lot better. I consider him as one of the top batters in world cricket, let alone the Indian team. I think it will be good for KL Rahul to take some time off and play some domestic cricket, try and score runs and get his confidence back up. Then bring him back; he is a quality player, there's no doubt about it,” he added.
