On 23 July 2023, day four action awaits both India and West Indies in the ongoing second Test in the Port of Spain. However, they had a rain-interrupted day three and as things stand, West Indies finished the day with a score of 229 runs for five wickets in 108 overs. They had scored at a run rate of 2.12. Still, they are trailing by 209 runs with five wickets in hand.
After finishing day two with a score of 86 runs in 41 overs, they added only 143 runs in 67 overs, at a run rate of 2.13. India's bowlers toiled hard and managed to take four wickets. The pitch has failed to assist the bowlers so far and batters have managed to defend balls as per their will. Now, the former Team India player, Aakash Chopra came up with a tweet and regarding that, fans shared their views.
Here is the shared tweet:
The second Test between India and West Indies might end in a draw
Speaking of the tweet, he wrote: “Flat-dead pitches are the biggest enemy of Test cricket. #WIvInd.” Chopra claimed that flat and dead pitches might not help in reviving Test cricket. These types of pitches might not be able to produce any result apart from a draw for any teams and their respective spectators. Till now, seeing the WI batters’ approach, it seemed that they are clearly looking for a draw despite looking to extract a result out of the match. Speaking of the match so far, West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl first.
While batting first, India scored 438 runs in their first innings in 128 overs. Virat Kohli was the star with the bat as he scored 121 runs off 206 balls. In reply, the home side’s skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite scored 75 runs while other batters managed to come up with some valuable contributions so far. From the bowling perspective, Ravindra Jadeja has taken two wickets while Mukesh Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammed Siraj took one wicket each.
