Speaking in the post-match press conference after India’s seven-wicket win over South Africa in the third T20I in Dharamsala, Abhishek has assured the fans that both Surya and Gill would win a lot of games for India in the mega event and in the T20I series against New Zealand before the showpiece event.

"I'm telling you (media) straight away, trust me that these two guys (Surya and Gill) are going to win us matches in the T20 World Cup and in series before that. I have been playing with them for so long, especially Shubman,” Abhishek Sharma said in the post-match press conference.

"So, I know which match he (Gill) can win, which conditions, irrespective of the team, whoever it is. So, I have a lot of trust in him from the beginning, and I hope everyone will see it very soon, and everyone will trust him," he added.
