In the fourteen editions which have been played, there have been 8899 sixes hit. Today, we shall be taking a look at the top five teams with the most number of sixes in the history of the Indian T20 league.

1) Mumbai:

Mumbai are the most successful franchise for a reason. As it's the big shots that help a team win you games, the team which has won the most number of games in this league have also hit the most number of sixes. The five-time champions have hit 1318 sixes in 217 matches. With big hitters like Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard in their side, watching them on the top of this list shouldn't come as a surprise.

There have been so many matches where the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers have deposited the ball outside the stadium. The Bangalore-based franchise has hit 1282 sixes in 217 innings. Besides, Gayle, who played for this franchise for seven seasons, has hit the most number of sixes in the history of the league.

3) Punjab:

Despite not winning a single title, Punjab are third on the list of the teams that have hit the most number of sixes in this league. They have hit 1187 sixes in 206 games. It is to be noted that the franchise has made it to the knockout stages on just two occasions.

4) Chennai:

Chennai are unarguably one of the greatest teams in the toughest 20 league. Not many franchises have been as consistent as them. Thus, they have a knack for consistently hitting the big shots. The Dhoni-led side has hit 1174 sixes in 192 games. As they were suspended for two years, they found themselves at the fourth position on this list. Otherwise, they would have definitely been amongst the top three.

5) Kolkata:

From being a laughing stock to now being one of the best teams in the league, the Kolkata-based franchise has come a long way. Like they played the first game of the biggest T20 league in the world, their mantra has always been to hit the big sixes. Thus, Kolkata has smashed as many as 1111 sixes in 207 innings. It's this six-hitting mentality that helped them win two titles (2012 and 2014).
