Fast bowlers have played an influential role in the success of the Indian T20 league. Over the years, there have been many express pacers who have wreaked havoc in the toughest 20 league. They have given the opposition batters sleepless nights.
In the process, these bowlers have bowled some really fast deliveries as well. Today, we will be taking a look at the fastest balls bowled in the history of the Indian T20 league.
1) Shaun Tait- 157.71 kmph
Shaun Tait was one of the fastest bowlers of his time. His ability to consistently bowl fast was a rare talent. Thus, he has also bowled the fastest delivery in the history of the Indian T20 league.
Back in 2011, Tait bowled a 157.7 kmph delivery to his fellow-countrymen Aaron Finch. After all these years, his record is still intact. It will be exciting to see if someone does go on to bowl a quicker delivery.
2) Anrich Nortje- 156.22 kmph, 155.21 kmph, 154.74 kmph and 154.21 kmph
Anrich Nortje has been troubling a lot of world-class batters with his extra pace of late. During the 2020 edition, he was regularly breaching the 150 mark. It was against Rajasthan when he bowled the second-fastest and third-fastest delivery.
He bowled a 156.2 kmph delivery to Jos Buttler which was hit for a boundary. However, he made a superb comeback in the next ball as a 155.21 kmph delivery knocked the England batter's stumps. In the same season, Nortje also bowled a 154.74 kmph delivery, as well as a 154.32 kmph delivery.
3) Dale Steyn- 154.4 kmph
Dale Steyn was an absolute champion and use to bowl thunderbolts during his time. He was a key player for Hyderabad during his stint with them. During the fifth edition of the league, Steyn delivered a 154.4 kmph ball.
It is to be noted that he bowled this delivery while representing the now-defunct Hyderabad Chargers. He was one bowler who could hit the deck really hard. Hence, he has earned a superb reputation for himself.
4) Kagiso Rabada- 154.23 kmph, 153.91 kmph
Kagiso Rabada is unarguably one of the best bowlers of this generation. Despite his injury concerns, he has the ability to regularly clock over 150.
He bowled a 154.23 kmph delivery finds himself on this list. If there's anyone who can bowl as fast as Nortje, then it's him. It will be exciting to watch him in the upcoming edition.
5) Lockie Ferguson - 153.84 kmph
Lockie Ferguson is synonymous with speed. His ability to regularly bowl the quicker deliveries has now become his trademark. He was at his best during the 2020 edition.
He bowled a 153.84 kmph ball in that edition. The Kiwi pacer was representing Kolkata back then. Taking his standards into account, Ferguson could very well bowl faster delivery than his previous record.
