5. 279 runs vs England, Leeds, 1986

India defeated England by 279 runs at Headingley in June 1986, securing a historic triumph. India bowled England out for just 102 after reaching 272 in the first innings, paced by Vengsarkar's 61. With 5/40, Roger Binny was the best bowler. 

In the second innings, India increased their advantage by 237 thanks to Vengsarkar's undefeated 102. Maninder Singh claimed four wickets as England fell to 128 after chasing a total of 408. For years, the victory was India's largest overseas victory by runs and guaranteed them a series win.

India shocked Australia in the inaugural Test match in Perth in November 2024. Yashasvi Jaiswal's 161, KL Rahul's 77, and Virat Kohli's undefeated 100 helped India rally from being bowled out for 150 in the first innings to declare an incredible 487/6 in the second. 

In their opening innings, Australia only scored 104 runs, and captain Jasprit Bumrah took 5/30. Travis Head put up a valiant 89 in the second innings, but Australia was bowled out for 238. Once more, Siraj and Bumrah worked together to give India a decisive 295-run victory and a historic victory on Australian territory.

3. 304 runs vs Sri Lanka, Galle, 2017

India put up a strong show at Galle to start the 2017 Sri Lanka trip. In the first innings, they scored a massive 600 thanks to centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara (153), and Shikhar Dhawan (190). After replying with 291 runs, Sri Lanka fell behind by 309 runs.

Despite Dimuth Karunaratne's 97, Sri Lanka only scored 245 runs as Ashwin and Jadeja took three wickets apiece while weaving a web around the hitters. At the time, the 304-run victory was India's biggest victory abroad in terms of runs.

2. 318 runs vs West Indies, Antigua, 2019

In August 2019, India defeated the West Indies in the maiden Test match at North Sound in Antigua. India reached 297 in the first innings with to 81 from Ajinkya Rahane and 58 from Jadeja. Ishant Sharma's fifer then gave India a vital 75-run lead as the spinners held the hosts to 222. 

With Rahane striking a century (102) and Hanuma Vihari just missing his with 93, India amassed 343/7 declared in the second innings. India won by 318 runs when West Indies collapsed under duress in the last innings and were bowled out for just 100 chasing 419 to win, after Jasprit Bumrah destroyed the top order with an incredible 5/7.

1. 336 runs vs England, Edgbaston, 2025

At Edgbaston in July 2025, India achieved their largest foreign Test victory by runs. They scored a massive 587 in the first innings after losing the toss, driven by Shubman Gill's outstanding 269 and helped by fifties from Jaiswal and Jadeja. Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184) put up a 303-run partnership to help England reach 407, but six batters were dismissed for ducks. 

With contributions from Pant, Jadeja, and KL Rahul, as well as another 161 from Gill, India declared at 427/6 in the second innings. England was bowled out for 271 while chasing 608 runs. With a match total of 10/187 and figures of 6/99 in the second innings, Akash Deep was the hero and helped the team win by a resounding 336 runs.
