5 - Sri Lankan players were banned from playing in Chennai

It was in the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League that Sri Lankan stalwarts like Mahela Jayawardene, Lasith Malinga, Kumar Sangakkara along with 9 other Sri Lankans were not allow to play in Chennai. It was because that the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa was not happy with Sri Lankan Tamils, who were dominating the Tamil politics. The IPL governing council had no option but to accept this as Sri Lankan players were withdrawn from the matches in Chennai.

4 - The Rave Party Saga

The huge controversy erupted when Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell ( who played for Pune Warriors) were caught for allegedly consuming drugs at a party in Mumbai in 2012. Several celebrities from the television and film industry were detained. Both of them were lucky to escape as no action were taken against them despite the test results being positive for the drug abuse.

3- Harbhajan Singh slapping S Sreesanth

It is one of the most controversial on-field moment in the history of the Indian Premier League. The incident took place in the inaugural season of the T20 extravaganza when Harbhajan Singh slapped S Sreesanth. Harbhajan apologised to Sreesanth after several years.

2 - Spot Fixing

In the IPL 2013, 3 Indian players namely S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were caught by Delhi police for their involvement in IPL spot-fixing. Further investigation led to Gurunath Meiyappan’s arrest. Meiyappan is alleged to be the owner of the Chennai Super Kings. A two year ban was imposed on Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings regarding the same.

1 - Shah Rukh Khan getting banned at Wankhede

Bollywood superstar and owner of Kolkata Knight Rider Shahrukh Khan was banned from entering the Wankhade after he was involved in a brawl with one of the security personals at the stadium. It is alleged that Khan hurdled abuses at the security personnel which led to the MCA banning him for 5 years.
