Opened way back in 1868, this ground has hosted a lot of home games for the Blackcaps, especially Tests. Over the years, the visiting teams have faced the challenges of batting during strong winds. It ranges from 40 to 100 kmph which becomes a challenge not just for the players but also the groundsmen. Notably, this place was once a lake turned into a swamp by the 1855 Wairarapa earthquake.

2. Chail Cricket Ground, India

Not many fans in India might be aware of this ground. Notably, it is located at some 2444 meters above sea level. Established in 1891, it was used for cricket till the early 1900s by Himachal Pradesh Cricket. Since then, it has hosted recreational games only. Polo has also been played here.

3. Portchester Castle Cricket Ground, England

This is one of those cricket grounds in England that play in a heritage site. Portchester Castle was the location of this medieval fortress located in the Dorset town of Fareham. With the kind of backdrop it has, visiting teams are always dying to play at this ground. Sadly, Portchester CC’s tenancy ended in 2017 but the club is still in existence and it’s hoped that they can one day return to this incredible home.
