“Tom Curran started crying like a little child” - PSL star Rishad Hossain amid India-Pakistan tensions

The Pakistan Super League 10 (PSL 10) is currently suspended due to the ongoing war-like tensions between India and Pakistan. Reports came out that the Pakistan Cricket Board booked the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to conduct the remainder of the tournament, but later reports also came out that UAE denied hosting the tournament. Hence, when the BCCI announced the suspension of the IPL 2025 for one week for the same reason, PSL also got suspended.

However, players associated with the tournament were flown out to the UAE swiftly, from where they boarded connecting flights to their respective destinations. As mentioned in Livemint, upon reaching the Dubai airport, while talking to reporters, Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain shared his experience and also mentioned how overseas players were shaken up by the whole incident.

Rishad was playing for Lahore Qalandars, and he said: “Alhamdulillah, we have reached Dubai after overcoming a crisis, and I am feeling well now. After landing in Dubai, we heard that a missile struck the airport 20 minutes after we took off from the airport. The news was scary as well as sorrowful. I am relieved to be here now.”

Rishad also claimed that foreign players were frightened by the whole situation and that New Zealand player Daryl Mitchell has vowed not to come to Pakistan again, especially in this scenario. Even England international Tom Curran was broken and was seen crying.

“(Daryl) Mitchell told me that he would never go to Pakistan again” - Rishad Hossain

"Foreign players like Sam Billings, Daryl Mitchell, Kushal Perera, David Wiese, Tom Curran... all of them were so frightened... Landing in Dubai, Mitchell told me that he would never go to Pakistan again, especially in this kind of scenario. Overall, they all were horrified," he added.

"He (Tom Curran) went to the airport but heard that the airport was closed. Then he started crying like a little child—it took two or three people to handle him," Rishad further added.

His fellow Bangladeshi teammate, Nahid Rana, was also there playing for Peshawar Zalmi. Regarding him, Rishad said: “Nahid Rana was very quiet, maybe due to the tension, as I understood. I kept telling him not to be tense and hopefully nothing would happen to us. Alhamdulillah, we reached Dubai safely.”
