‘Toh World Cup mein kyu drop kia tha’ - Fans react as Virat Kohli rates Ambati Rayudu as most underrated IPL batter

Virat Kohli is currently busy playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL. He had a very poor IPL season in 2022. But, this year, he has started the tournament with some good performances. Now, on 20 April 2023, he will be in action again as RCB will play against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Mohali.

Now, ahead of the clash, Virat Kohli came up with a big statement in a recent interaction on Jio Cinema. He said that the CSK batter, Ambati Rayudu is the most underrated batter in the IPL history. Hearing that, some fans were left surprised, and shocked, and shared their thoughts on social media. 

Ambati Rayudu has been a terrific performer in IPL history over the years 

Before the 2019 ODI World Cup, Ambati Rayudu was an integral part of Team India. He was continuously playing in bilateral series at the number four position. Virat Kohli was the skipper for the side. But, when the squad for the World Cup came out, Rayudu did not get a place and it was shocking for his fans. Despite runs with the bat, the veteran CSK batter failed to get a place. The player seemed to be not happy as he also came up with a cryptic tweet during the World Cup. The Men in Blue selected Vijay Shankar over Rayudu and for a reason, they claimed that Shanak is more of a three-dimensional player than the veteran batter.

However, India lost in the semi-final of that World Cup against New Zealand. Currently, Virat Kohli is no longer the skipper for the Men in Blue in any format of the game. So, hearing such comments, fans were left surprised. They claimed that if Kohli really had rated Rayudu as the most underrated IPL batter, then he should not have let him drop for that World Cup squad in 2019. In the ongoing IPL, Ambati Rayudu has mostly played as an impact player for CSK. In five matches, he has scored 74 runs.
