TNPL: Winners list from 2016 to 2025

The ninth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) concluded on 6 July 2025, as IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans were crowned champions. They defeated the Dindigul Dragons by 118 runs, and their wicketkeeper-batter Tushar Raheja was named the Player of the Match for his 77-run knock off 46 balls.

The Dragons won the toss and asked the Tamizhans to bat first. However, they responded strongly with a huge total of 220/5 in 20 overs. Both openers, Raheja and Amit Sathvik, gave a solid start with a 121-run opening partnership. Sathvik scored 65 off 34 balls. 

At number three, skipper Sai Kishore came in but managed only one run. After that, useful contributions from Mohamed Ali (23 off 14), Uthirasamy Sasidev (20 off 11), and V. Anovankar (unbeaten 25 off 12) helped the team reach the imposing total.

For the Dragons, M. Karthik Saran bagged two wickets, while Ganeshan Periyaswamy, Varun Chakravarthy, and Venkatesh Bhuvaneshwar picked up one each.

In reply, it was a complete batting collapse for Ravichandran Ashwin and his team, as no significant contributions came. Eventually, the Dindigul Dragons were bundled out for just 102 runs in 14.4 overs. For the Tamizhans, Esakkimuthu A., Mohan Prasath, and Ragupathy Silmbarasan took two wickets each, while T. Natarajan picked up one.

With this win, the Tamizhans secured their maiden TNPL title. The Dragons had a great chance to defend the title they won in 2024, but it turned out to be a nightmare of a performance from them—especially with the bat in the final.

Over the years, Chepauk Super Gillies have been the most successful team, with four titles. Albert TUTI Patriots won the inaugural edition in 2016. In 2018, it was Siechem Madurai Panthers’ maiden title. In 2022, the final was abandoned due to rain, and hence, both the Gillies and Lyca Kovai Kings shared the title. In 2023, the Kovai Kings bagged another title.
