Australia are currently busy playing the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India in India. However, the visitors have failed to win any of the first two Tests so far. The failure of batters like David Warner has been one of the main reasons behind it. However, Warner got injured during their first innings in the Delhi Test.

Mohammed Siraj was bowling and in one of his rising delivery, the ball hit on Warner’s arm. After that, X-Rays confirmed that he had also sustained a hairline fracture of the elbow which will keep him out of the remaining Tests. The veteran batter did not field also as Matthew Renshaw played in the second innings as a concussion substitute in Delhi.

David Warner is most likely to get back for the ODI series against India

Now, on 21 February 2023, Cricket Australia have confirmed that David Warner will not be a further part of the Test series as he is heading back to Australia. However, some reports came out that he will return to India for the three-match ODI series that immediately follows the Tests. Speaking about, the Australian Cricket Board issued a statement that reads: "David Warner has been ruled out of the Qantas test tour of India and will return home," CA said in a statement issued this afternoon.

"Warner was struck on the elbow in the second Test in Delhi and sustained a hairline fracture. After further assessment, he will require a period of rehabilitation which will preclude any further involvement in the remainder of the Test series. It is currently anticipated that he will return to India for the three One-Day Internationals which follow the Test Series," the statement further added. David Warner has been in terrible form in the longest format of the game in India. In three innings, Warner managed only 26 runs to score. Therefore, fans were not happy with such a pathetic batting display from a senior player of his calibre.
