Not many people would argue with the fact that Hyderabad have looked like the least impressive team in the Indian T20 League 2022 so far. Kane Williamson and Co. began their campaign with a 61-run defeat at the hands of Rajasthan.

They looked completely out of sorts with both, the bat, as well as the ball. Rajasthan batted first in that game and managed to score a mammoth 210-run total in the first innings. Although Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik did pose some threat, the team management would expect a lot better from the entire bowling unit.

Hyderabad, in pursuit of that total, could only manage 149 runs in the second innings. The likes of Kane Williamson, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran failed to hit the straps. Aiden Markram and Washington Sundar later played vital knocks, but only to delay the inevitable.

Hyderabad are slated to play their next match against Punjab on Monday. In this article, we take a look at three changes Hyderabad must do in their team combination to win against Lucknow:

  1. Adding Marco Jansen in the playing XI

The 21-year old left-arm seamer from South Africa, Marco Jansen has significantly improved in a very short period. He impressed one and all with his fast bowling exploits in the series against India. Hyderabad could strengthen their bowling unit by adding Marco Jansen in the playing XI. He could replace Romario Shepherd on Monday.

  1. Replacing Priyam Garg with Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma had a horrendous outing with both, the bat and ball in the last game against Rajasthan. He bowled one over and conceded 15 runs. He later opened the batting and could only manage to score 9 runs in 19 deliveries. SRH could try Priyam Garg at the top of the order in place of Abhishek Sharma.

  1. Rahul Tripathi to open with Priyam Garg

Hyderabad made Kane Williamson open the innings in the last match. The experiment didn’t work out as Williamson got out for just 2 runs in 7 deliveries. It would be wise to make him bat at his most-suited number three position and make Rahul Tripathi open with Priyam Garg. Both are talented individuals and certainly, have the potential to give the team a solid start.
