Chennai haven't really been at their best in the Indian T20 league 2022 so far. They lost their first two games of the tournament. Ravindra Jadeja hasn't had the best start to his captaincy stint with Chennai.
Besides, this tournament is too dynamic for their flaws to remain under the carpet for too long. If the defending champions are to do better, then they would need to make a few changes. Today, we shall be taking a look at three changes Chennai need to do to win their next game.
1) Rajvardhan Hangargekar for Shivam Dube:
Although Shivam Dube scored 49 against Lucknow, his bowling cost Chennai the match. He gave 25 runs in the 19th over. Besides, the Jadeja-led side currently needs the extra bowling option as they already have a lot of batters.
When it comes to Rajvardhan Hangargekar, he is one of the most hyped youngsters going around. He already showed glimpses of his potential during the U19 World Cup 2022. The pacer's physique would help him generate the extra pace.
2) Adam Milne for Tushar Deshpande:
Tushar Deshpande has been unimpressive in both the games for Chennai. So far in this edition, he has given 63 runs in seven overs, and has only picked one wicket. Besides, Chennai needs an express pace bowler.
Adam Milne is tailor-made for the shorter versions of the game, and can prove to be the "X Factor" for the four-time champions. He had a knack for picking wickets as well. If deemed fit for their upcoming encounter, Milne should replace Deshpande as Chennai only played with three overseas players against Lucknow
3) KM Asif for Mukesh Choudhary:
Mukesh Choudhary made his Indian T20 league debut during Chennai's game against Lucknow. He was below-par as he leaked 39 runs in 21 balls. He had an economy of 11.1. While one couldn't expect a debutant to defend nine off the last over, he bowled two wide deliveries in the 20th over.
On the other hand, KM Asif has already played three Indian T20 league games and is well aware of the dynamics of this league. Despite not really setting the stage on fire during his previous outings for Chennai, he could be a good pick considering the fact that he can bowl the quicker deliveries at will. He has picked four wickets in the Indian T20 league so far.
