The stage was set at Mohali as Punjab Kings (PBKS) took on the defending champion, Gujarat Titans (GT). An enthralling battle was waiting for fans in the 18th match of the ongoing IPL. Both teams were coming off after a defeat in their respective clashes. Hence, fans of both teams were hoping for a better performance in this match.

Speaking of the match, Hardik Pandya made a comeback in this match and won the toss. He opted to bowl first. GT also handed a debut cap to veteran Indian pacer, Mohit Sharma. On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada also got included in the playing XI of PBKS. For the opening, the skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh came out.

But, Mohammed Shami drew the first blood as he got the wicket of Prabhsimran in his first over only. Dhawan also failed to continue his dream run with the bat as he got out on eight runs off eight balls. Then, Matthew Short scored 36 runs off 24 balls, including six fours and one six. After that, other batters came up with some contributions and PBKS scored 153 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. For GT, Mohit Sharma grabbed two wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Apart from him, the other four bowlers took one wicket each.

For the chase, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha came out for the opening. After a solid start, GT lost their first wicket on 48 runs in 4.4 overs. Saha scored 30 runs off 19 balls, including five fours. After that, Sai Sudharsan played a struggling knock of 19 runs off 20 balls. Then, Pandya failed again as he got out on eight runs off 11 balls. After that, Shubman Gill continued to play his shots and scored 67 runs off 49 balls. Finally, GT chased down the target in 19.5 overs and won the match by six wickets. For PBKS, Rabada, Harpreet Brar, and Arshdeep Singh took one wicket each.
