Sri Lankan umpire, Kumar Dharmasena has, once again, made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The 51-year-old's awful decision on the third day of the second Test between Australia and Sri Lanka invited severe criticism from the fans and the players. The incident took place in the 92.5th over, when the Australia pacer bowled a short ball outside off. Chandimal goes hard at it and got an outside edge through to the keeper.

However, Kumar Dharmasena didn't give it out despite huge appeal from the visitors. Australia lost all their reviews by then and couldn't send it upstairs. UltraEdge showed a big spike, there was a definite edge but the umpire missed it.

This isn't the first time he has been criticized for his horrendous piece of umpiring. In late 2016, when the 1996 World Cup winner was officiating a Test match in Mohali between India and England, he made a hilarious mistake as a third umpire.

Apparently, Parthiv Patel was given out caught behind down the leg side. The left-hander appealed against the decision. In the replays, it was found out that the ball had brushed his shirt and not the bat. However, after watching the replays, he asked the on-field umpire to stay with the decision. The umpire didn't made the call as he knew it would be wrong.

Virender Sehwag, who was part of the Hindi commentary panel, made a mockery of him. After a while, Kumar once against made a bad decision in ODI game between the two teams. In that game, Liam Plunkett was given out lbw. The decision was supposed to be overturned but the former off-spinner asked his on-field colleague to stay with the decision.

The umpire found it amusing and Sehwag, once again, got the opportunity to make fun of the former Sri Lanka cricketer. Few years into this, Dharamsena is now, once again, in the spotlight for making bad decisions.

Talking about the ongoing game between Australia and Sri Lanka, the hosts have managed to notch a huge score of 431 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the second innings at stumps on Day 3. Dinesh Chandimal is currently unbeaten on 118 off 232 balls.

This is how Twitter reacted to the umpire's decision:
