The Indian Cricket Board is considered the richest board in the cricketing world at the current time. The cash-rich league like the Indian T20 League has also increased the revenue of the Board to an incredibly good extent. Notably, this league was started 14 years back in the year 2008 and it was also dubbed as the brainchild of the former league chairman Lalit Modi.
But speaking of the condition of the other sports in comparison to cricket, it is not enough promising which can be seen at the times when India participates in multi-nation international events like the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
Meanwhile, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has come up with a blunt suggestion to the Indian cricket Board regarding the share of their revenue. He went on to advise the board that they should give half of their revenue to the development of other sports so that it can improve the condition of other sports in India.
“If it’s up to me, probably the BCCI should also go on and give 50 percent of revenue to all other Olympic sports, but it’s not up to me. Because 50 percent of revenue that is generated out of cricket is enough for cricketers. But the rest of the 50 percent can actually pick up all the other sports,” said Gambhir during the TURF 2022 & India Sports Awards organized by FICCI.
Gautam Gambhir said, "the BCCI should give 50% of their revenue to all other Olympic sports, because 50% of revenue is enough for cricketers. The rest 50% can actually pick up all the other sports".

Later on, the statement Gambhir divided the fans over social media in multiple opinions. They all took to Twitter for reacting to the suggestion from the former Indian southpaw.
Here’s how fans reacted:
He's right, the money BCCI earns is WAY WAY WAY TOO MUCH, should not be any problem but that in a ideal world. https://t.co/Ht8YOYAsSp

Yes. And this can be a sort of loan to other sports bodies.

BCCI can spend 500cr on anything they want without a thought. Some of the other sports would get an incredible boost, if they're handed 50cr.
At the end of the day, these are all Indian sports institutions. https://t.co/8W3JpNW2AD
Such a great advice if @BCCI accept it will really change the fortune of Indian sports @IndianOlympians

Rather BCCI should sponsor other sports at grassroot level, which will help other sports and marketing of domestic tournaments can also be done

That is an exceptionally mature and forward thinking thought from Gambhir. Other sports in India would benefit from this, while cricket wouldn't lose out on too much revenue. This

May be you can ask to charge tax but expecting 50% is a joke😂 https://t.co/a5XNLpIBav

I'm tired of these clowns criticizing cricket for everything. If other sports grow, they have to do it on their own, organically. Have you ever seen Spain, Brazil or Germany criticize football for other sports? https://t.co/MfIblwvfMt

How is it sensible? Was India popular in cricket until the 83 World Cup? It took all these years for BCCI to be where they are now. Why should they donate 50%? Are we forgetting that it’s also a business? It should be Fifa or Asian football or the fans promoting by just watching.

Very very Bad idea. Others games should generate organic growth. It’s not only a money issue, performance matters to attract the crowd. Honestly other games are growing without cricket’s help. It is best that way.

Be there to take credit when someone wins a medal - wait, they do that already.

Notably, the Indian T20 League had also become the second most valuable league in the World in terms of media rights. The Board is set to host the mini-auction for the next edition of the tournament later in the month of December.
