It has not been an easy road for Siraj as he had a tough initiation to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and in international cricket. Even when the going got tough for Siraj, he was backed by Virat Kohli at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after he had spent a season at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In his T20I debut against New Zealand, he did not have the best of starts and conceded a lot of runs.

But Siraj went from strength to strength and had a breakthrough series in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia where he picked up 13 wickets in six innings at an average of 29.53. He also led the Indian pace attack in the deciding Test Match at the Gabba in Brisbane. Siraj then went through the paces and turned his game around in white-ball cricket.

The right-armer recently took a four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in an ODI series at home. Siraj rose through the ranks and also dealt very well with a personal tragedy where he had lost his father in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Siraj was retained by RCB in IPL 2022 for a 7 Crore (INR) contract. He would want to be in top form in World Cup 2023.
