On September 2, Tendulkar, also known as the God of Cricket, shared a one-word tweet with his fans, leaving the entire cricketing fraternity puzzled but engaged with the post nonetheless.

Before publishing the post on the microblogging website, the former Indian opening batter wrote only "Cricket". Within hours of Tendulkar's tweet, it had gone viral and received 50,000 likes, with people sharing their own interpretations of what the 49-year-old might have meant.

Here is the tweet

The practice is thought to have begun with the social media staff of American rail transportation operator Amtrak. On Thursday, Amtrak's Twitter account simply said, "Trains".  Posting one-word tweets has since become popular. Even US President Joe Biden's office has jumped on the "one-word tweet" trend. Within a short period of time, Amtrak's single-word tweet received over 20,000 retweets and nearly 130,000 likes.

Some believe the initial tweet was a deliberate social media strategy to gain attention, while others believe it was a mistake made by an "intern" on Amtrak's social media team.

Tendulkar is known for being a trendsetter, and he has been extremely active on social media since retiring from all forms of cricket. When the Master Blaster adopts a trend, it is only a matter of time before other cricketers follow suit and jump on board.

In the meantime, fans went crazy in the comment section of the tweet. They tried to interpret what the tweet could have possibly meant. "It would be different without you!!!!!" a fan wrote. "The game that you are the God of," another fan wrote.

On the other hand, some fans posted Virat Kohli's image calling him the "King" of the game. "You say cricket I hear 'Virat Kohli'," a fan wrote.
