Pat Cummins, the Test skipper for Australia, celebrates his 30th birthday today. He is regarded as one of the best bowlers of his time, who made his international debut when he was 18. On his first international outing, Cummins stunned South Africa with astounding figures of 3/25. Cummins participated in his debut game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2014.

Talking of his association with the Indian Premier League, Cummins was at first a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders team. Later, he was acquired by the Delhi Capitals team ahead of the 2017 IPL season. The IPL 2020 auction's most expensive purchase was him.

Pat Cummins will be leading Australia in the Test Championship final

In the IPL 2020 season, Cummins re-joined Kolkata. Cummins has 45 wickets to his name in the IPL after 42 games. In the IPL, Cummins' brilliance has extended beyond his bowling. The Australian has three half-centuries to his name and has produced some great match-winning innings over the competition's history.

Pat Cummins will be expected to lead Australia in the upcoming Test Championship final against India, to be played at the Oval, London, in June. Australia's 17-man roster for the next Test Championship Final against India and the opening two games of the Ashes 2023 in England has been made public. Mitchell Marsh, an all-around player, is back playing Test cricket after a four-year absence. Additionally, by adding Marcus Harris and Matthew Renshaw to the group, the selectors have increased the pressure on the starter, David Warner.

However, Australia's team must be downsized to 15 players by May 28 to comply with the tournament rules. Unfortunately, the team has omitted Matthew Kuhnemann, Ashton Agar, Peter Handscomb, and Mitchell Swepson, who were a part of earlier this year's India trip. Josh Inglis' selection as a backup wicketkeeper for Alex Carey is wise.

Australia squad:Β Pat Cummins (captain), Steve Smith (vice-captain), Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw
